Why Diana Hamilton won overall Artiste of the year at VGMAs

Celebrated Gospel musician  Diana Hamilton was crowned Artiste of the Year at the just ended  22nd edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

The ‘Adom’ hitmaker beat off the likes of KiDi, Kuami Eugene, Adina, Medikal and  Sarkodie to win that enviable title.

However, She’s the second gospel artiste to win the topmost award at the VGMA after Joe Mettle won in 2017.

Diana Hamilton also became the second woman to win the Artiste of the Year after Ebony and the first female Gospel artiste to do so.

It was a great night for Diana as she picked up three other awards on the night; Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year, Gospel Artiste of the Year and Gospel Song of the Year.

She expressed her gratitude to her family, her fans, her management and everyone who had supported her.

Recently, Diana and hip life artiste Kofi Kinaata were unveiled as ambassadors for enterprise life, an insurance company in Ghana.

The two were unveiled at a short ceremony at Advantage Place, headquarters of Enterprise Life in Accra a month ago.

The Insurance giant settled on the gospel star to reach out to more Ghanaians mainly because Hamilton had almost become a household name in the gospel industry.

Diana Hamilton’s toughest competitor in the Artiste of the Year category was Afrobeats artiste KiDi, whose exploits in the year under review saw him being heavily tipped to win.

For scores on social media, her victory was nothing short of miracle as she combined the grace of God Almighty with hardwork and dedication.

Diana Hamilton, a nurse by profession,  has lived a beautiful life in the country.

She has stayed away from controversies. Although journalists try to poke nose into her private affairs, she guards her reputation with all her might.

It is , however not surprising that she is loved by thousands of music lovers.
