Galamsey queen Aisha Huang to open defence in court

After months of trial, the Accra High Court has issued a directive for Aisha Huang, popularly known as the Galamsey Queen, to commence her defence in the galamsey charges she is currently facing.

Aisha Huang’s legal proceedings began following her arrest upon her arrival in Ghana and subsequent involvement in unlawful mining activities.

The state presented compelling evidence, including past instances of illegal mining, which were previously prosecuted and resulted in her deportation.

But lawyers for Aisha Hung after the state closed its case filed an application of no case on grounds that the prosecution has not proved any prima facie case worth answering to.

The court however after considering the application dismissed it without merit. The case has been adjourned to July 5.
